BC River SUP – Return of the Chucks

May showers bring spring flowers…. and high water on BC’s network of rivers and creeks.  And when it’s high water in BC, Telus and Shaw are makin’ mollah cuz every whitewater kayaker’s phone is buzzing and blinging.  “OK, this might be a little crazy but we’re gonna go for it anyway”  said Carl Jacks, our impromptu whitewater kayak expert – A role he didn’t choose by design but rather by necessity and possibly survival.  Five Stand Up Paddleboarders were set to take on the Skookumchuck rapids near Mabel Lake and it was Carl who would act as our guide. River SUP on the Similkameen – Keremeos, BC

Short SUP Stories from South Western BC.  We took a flash trip to Keremeos to check out the Similkameen River in late August and discovered that its a pretty sweet SUP spot.    After failed attempts to find the town’s quasi Taxi driver, we met up with Baker Bill who helped us shuttle the car to our drop point at the Chopaka bridge, 13.5 miles South of the town.  The parched hillsides, fast moving current, and wildlife made us feel like we were back in the Wild West

SUP Photo of the Day – Shuswap River Runnin’

Looking for another place to SUP?   How about a sweet river run? A group of SUP’ster’s from Vernon have been heading up to the Shuswap River to enjoy an afternoon paddle near Enderby – Pick as section, any section and weave your way down the moving current and even through light rapids…… past all of the sun-stroked tuber’s and floating familes.  Here’s a snapshot from a recent trip.  Paddle ho!
