BC River SUP – Return of the Chucks
May showers bring spring flowers…. and high water on BC’s network of rivers and creeks. And when it’s high water in BC, Telus and Shaw are makin’ mollah cuz every whitewater kayaker’s phone is buzzing and blinging. “OK, this might be a little crazy but we’re gonna go for it anyway” said Carl Jacks, our impromptu whitewater kayak expert – A role he didn’t choose by design but rather by necessity and possibly survival. Sheila Sovereign speaks – The world exclusive interview
Dramatic headline….. In Sheila’s first year of SUP, she’s come along way from those first chilly days at the SUP demo and emerged as the fastest femme in the Okanagan but there’s more to her than just winning races. She embraced the sport from the beginning and promptly introduced the sport to her partner, Mike Hainault, who is a natural himself. The Silver Star resident worn down her brakes going up n’ down the mountain to get her SUP fix so we sat down with the Kalavida Summer Series Champ to find out how SUP took over her life….. River SUP on the Similkameen – Keremeos, BC
Short SUP Stories from South Western BC. We took a flash trip to Keremeos to check out the Similkameen River in late August and discovered that its a pretty sweet SUP spot. After failed attempts to find the town’s quasi Taxi driver, we met up with Baker Bill who helped us shuttle the car to our drop point at the Chopaka bridge, 13.5 miles South of the town. The parched hillsides, fast moving current, and wildlife made us feel like we were back in the Wild West
