Canadian Waterman Festival

Comox, BC – The first annual Canadian Waterman Festival will be held in the beautiful Comox Valley at Marina Park with the stunning Beaufort mountain range as the backdrop. Hann and Augaitis Capture Kalamalka Crowns

Only one year ago, 18 people crossed the length of Kalamalka Lake and there was only one ‘race’ style board in the mix – that of Beau Whitehead of Bellingham, who won the event in a time of 1:49:12.  This year, 61 athletes made the crossing with a full compliment of 12’6″ and 14″ race boards dominating the field.  It was ‘Classic’ weekend with almost 80 athletes – good competition, a great vibe and tons of SUP stoke to go around.  Results now posted – Read more: Hann and Augaitis Capture Kalamalka Crowns

2011 Rogue Stand Up Paddleboards – Graphic delights

Canada is quickly becoming a hot market for Stand Up and the latest entry into the scene is Rogue SUP from San Clemente, CA.  Their ‘All-Water’ boards feature a variety of appealing graphics and they’re great on lakes and rivers and perform well in head-high surf.  For 2011, Rogue has expanded their quiver to feature a line of racing and touring boards including a ‘Canadian specific’ design on their new ‘Drifter’ touring model.  Their 12’6 Race Board dubbed the ‘Outlaw’ (Carbon Inlay) is expected to weight in at around 24lbs…
