Fast times at Kalavida High – Ferguson and Sovereign rule!
Posted on Tuesday, 20 July 2010 11:14
Fast Times at Kalavida High - It was the fourth race in the Kalavida Summer SUP Series and Cory Spicoli and Sheila Sovereign won their respective classes. On what was a strangely quiet tourist nite on Kal Beach, a large group of sup’sters took to the short course with the winning times coming in under 15 minutes. The race even included a trip under Kal Dock on the first lap and one beach portage. Check out what Spicoli had to say about his victory –
Here’s a short interview with Mr. Spicoli after his win –
Cory Spicoli: Well, I’ll tell you Stu, I did battle some humongous ripples! But you know, just like I told the guy on KBC “Paddlin’ is my business!”
KBC TV: You know, a lot of people expected maybe Wade ‘Woody’ Anderson or Gary ‘Kuku Hoe’ Wessels would take the honors this year.
Cory Spicoli: [laughs incredulously] Those guys are freaks!
KBC TV: [oblivious] That’s fantastic! Let me ask you a question. When you get out there, do you ever fear for your life?
Cory Spicoli: Well, I’ll tell you, SUPing’s not a sport, it’s a way of life, you know, a hobby. It’s a way of looking at that lake and saying, “Hey bud, let’s party!” [focuses on Stu's sport coat]
Cory Spicoli: Where’d you get this jacket?
KBC TV: [evasive] I got this from the network. Let me ask you a question. What’s next for Cory Spicoli?
Cory Spicoli: Heading over to the C4 River SUP Tour and on to the Battle of the Paddle, and then me and Kev are going to wing on over to the Baja and jam with the Donnas! [to the two girls next to him]
Cory Spicoli: And you guys are invited too!

Can you tell me if it’s possible to rent an SUP to try in Kalamalka Lake? What is the cost? Do you provide lessons? And what hours are you open every day? Thanks!
