Welcome to OK SUP!

Stand Up Paddle Boarding – (SUP for short) is set to splash on to the scene, or rather the lakes and rivers, in and around the Okanagan Valley this coming spring and summer. A few of us have been lucky enough to pioneer the sport in the region and this spring, you’ll see a few more faces on Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes.  It’s easy to stand up for the first time and you can SUP on just about any place that has a body of water and place to get in. [singlepic id=10 w=300 h=220 float=left]BC is fortunate to have surf and tons of flatwater to explore on the many lakes, rivers, and creeks around the province. The Okanagan region is home to two of the provinces best lakes and summer scenes. Okanagan Lake, which lends it shore to Kelowna at the mid-point offers up nearly 150km of length for paddlers to explore and Vernon is home to the Northern shores of both Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes.  What a choice!  Add in some of the best beaches, wineries, and mountain bike hills and trails and you’ve got one amazing place to play.

The Shuswap Region, with it’s network of lakes and rivers, will also be a great place to explore.  The newest frontier in Stand Up is on the rivers through rapids, all levels of whitewater, and even standing waves.  In the Southern Okanagan, the region is almost untapped while in the North near Enderby, the Shuswap River served up some great rides this past summer.  There’s even a few creeks from Mabel Lake that connect to the Shuswap that offer light rapids for novice and expert paddlers. Check out some youtube stuff below:

Get ready for a paddle Revolution. Stand Up Paddle Boarding in Kelowna, Vernon and throughout the Okanagan/Shuswap is coming to a lake or river near you. Get on board.
